Wound cleaning & wound treatment with LIGASANO® for spina bifida
By LIGAMED® medical Produkte GmbH
This case report describes the treatment of a 24-year-old female with spina bifida who developed a category 4 decubital ulcer after refusing surgical intervention. Initial treatment involved LIGASANO® for wound cleaning, debridement, and dressing, with additional measures for ventilation and pressure relief. Improvements included reduced exudate, absence of fibrin coatings, and granulation of the wound. Despite challenges such as bone exposure near the vertebral bodies, the wound progressed significantly under conservative management. By June 2017, the wound was nearly healed, with only minimal residual lesions. This case highlights LIGASANO®’s role in managing severe chronic wounds effectively.
