Siemens Healthineers and Prisma Health, a US-based non-profit healthcare system, have expanded their partnership to advance cancer care in South Carolina and Tennessee.
The collaboration, which began in 2021, aims to improve healthcare delivery through innovative technologies and workforce development.
Prisma Health’s $50m investment includes Varian’s Ethos adaptive radiotherapy system, which enhances precision and personalisation in cancer treatment.
The Ethos system, powered by artificial intelligence (AI), allows real-time adaptation to tumour and anatomical changes, safeguarding healthy tissue.
The technology is part of a broader effort by Siemens Healthineers and Prisma Health to deploy advanced medical solutions across all Prisma Health facilities.
They also plan to enhance clinical services by establishing an Intelligence Insights Centre.
The Intelligence Insights Centre will leverage de-identified patient data and AI algorithms to support physicians in making informed clinical decisions.
The initiative aims to accelerate diagnosis and treatment, predict and prevent diseases, and optimise patient care.
In addition, it will explore computer-aided workflow tools to improve care practices and reduce operational burdens, allowing healthcare providers more time for patient interactions.
Siemens Healthineers president and Americas head John Kowal said: “Working with Prisma Health to establish a full continuum of cancer care, from screening and diagnosis through survivorship, is an enormous point of pride for our organisation.
“Combining the power of diagnostic imaging, radiation therapy, and post-treatment monitoring with professional services to manage complex oncology operations helps to ensure that advances in patient care are consistent and sustainable over time.”
The expanded partnership will integrate advanced clinical oncology services and digital tools, fostering more personalised and efficient care.
By leveraging advanced solutions and research initiatives, Siemens Healthineers and Prisma Health will improve healthcare accessibility and quality for the communities.
Prisma Health executive vice president and chief operating officer Clarence Sevillian said: “Since entering into the Value Partnership with Siemens Healthineers, Prisma Health has expanded access to imaging services and introduced new technologies and care locations to better serve our communities.
“Our priority is ensuring that patients have access to care that is both compassionate and informed by the latest clinical insights.
“This next phase of the partnership reflects a continued spirit of collaboration, integrating advanced oncology tools and support services that may help streamline operations and enhance the patient experience.”
Earlier this year, Siemens Healthineers entered a five-year strategic partnership with Singapore General Hospital (SGH) to enhance patient care.
The partnership aims to enhance patient care by developing new technologies, clinical solutions, and data-driven approaches to improve diagnostics and treatment protocols.
