Sage has launched Sage Detect, an AI-driven monitoring solution, to its senior care platform to improve emergency response and wellness monitoring in senior living communities.

Sage Detect provides real-time alerts and insights into wellness trends, such as sleep quality and mobility, helping caregivers address potential issues proactively.

It is easily integrated into Sage’s existing cloud-based operating system and is widely used for managing care and documenting interventions.

The system’s AI capabilities enable it to interpret daily activity patterns and deliver precise emergency alerts, thereby enhancing the safety and efficiency of senior care.

Sage co-founder and CEO Raj Mehra said: “Building Sage Detect was a natural evolution. Caregivers are under pressure to do more with less, with lives on the line.

“Sage Detect supports caregivers with proactive and real-time alerts to better monitor and care for their residents, identifying dangerous situations before they arise.”

Falls are a significant concern in senior living, often leading to injuries and liabilities. Sage Detect addresses this by using AI-powered video to detect falls and other emergencies.

Caregivers receive instant alerts through the Sage app, allowing them to quickly respond, confirm incidents, and document care, thus reducing emergency response times.

In addition to emergency alerts, Sage Detect provides insights into wellness trends, such as hydration and bathroom frequency, which can serve as early warning signs for caregivers.

By identifying these trends, care teams can intervene earlier, preventing potential health risks and improving overall resident well-being.

During development, Sage collaborated with Agemark, a national senior living provider, to shape Sage Detect into a caregiver-first product, and became the first to pilot Sage Detect.

Agemark co-CEO Michael Pittore said: “We’ve had great success with Sage throughout Agemark communities and we’re excited about this evolution and the power of Sage Detect to accelerate response times, improve care planning, and boost operational efficiency.

“Its targeted, AI-driven insights will help our teams identify condition changes earlier, respond more effectively, and ultimately deliver safer, more proactive care, while maintaining the privacy and security that our residents deserve.”

Sage is supported by $59m funding, including a recent $35m Series B in December 2024.

The investors include ANIMO Ventures, Distributed Ventures, Friends & Family Capital, Goldcrest Capital, IVP, Maveron, PLUS Capital, and Matthew and Camila McConaughey.

Matthew and Camila McConaughey said: “Spending so much time with Kay Mac, we’ve seen just how important it is to support her well-being without taking away her independence. That’s why Sage’s mission really speaks to us.

“They’re providing older adults with the tools they need to stay safe, healthy, and independent while giving families peace of mind.

“It’s all about ensuring that seniors can age with dignity, and we’re proud to support a company that’s truly making this kind of difference.”
