Reid Health, a nonprofit hospital based in Richmond, Indiana, has teamed up with hellocare.ai to implement artificial intelligence (AI)-driven smart hospital technology across all patient rooms.
The initiative aims to enhance healthcare delivery and tackle staffing challenges in rural areas by integrating virtual care solutions.
The deployment includes AI-assisted virtual nursing and telehealth, using advanced devices and real-time communication tools linked with the Epic electronic health record (EHR) software system.
Reid Health has equipped its patient rooms with hellocare.ai technology, featuring high-resolution cameras and voice-enabled systems.
The tools support AI-assisted virtual nursing and telehealth services.
According to hellocare.ai, interactive digital whiteboards and smart room signs provide real-time data access, integrated with Epic, to improve clinical efficiency and patient care.
hellocare.ai founder and CEO Labinot Bytyqi said: “Reid Health’s bold vision and commitment to innovation make them an ideal partner.
“Together, we’ve created one of the most advanced smart hospital room models in the country, fully digital, virtual first, and patient centric.”
Between June and October 2024, Reid Health recorded over 5,800 writebacks to Epic, with more than 14,000 badge accesses to digital whiteboards.
The health system is also using hellocare.ai in educational settings to prepare nursing students for practical applications.
Reid Health’s partnership with hellocare.ai indicates a significant advancement in modern healthcare delivery.
The integration of AI-assisted technology aims to improve nurse retention and operational efficiency.
Reid Health chief digital and information officer Muhammad Siddiqui said: “With hellocare.ai, we’ve not only been able to consolidate multiple services and technologies into a single, integrated platform, but also introduce new capabilities that were previously unavailable to our care teams.
“This has transformed the way we deliver virtual care, streamlining workflows, enhancing staff efficiency, and creating a more connected experience for patients and clinicians alike.”
Reid Health serves East Central Indiana and West Central Ohio, focusing on innovative healthcare solutions and community wellness.
Based in Clearwater, Florida, hellocare.ai provides AI-assisted virtual care solutions to over 70 health systems in the US and is expanding globally.
Its platform includes virtual nursing, patient engagement, and remote monitoring, integrating with existing healthcare systems to enhance care delivery.
Reid Health vice president and chief nursing officer Misti Foust-Cofield said: “With just a touch, nurses can now pull up patient labs, imaging, trends, and even write directly back to Epic from the whiteboard itself.
“The ease of access and bidirectional Epic integration have dramatically improved documentation, supported nurse wellbeing, and increased overall patient satisfaction.”
Earlier this year, hellocare.ai partnered with Mayo Clinic to co-develop ambient clinical intelligence technology. The partnership intends to transform healthcare by reducing hospitalisations, illness severity, and improving patient quality of life with the help of advanced AI solutions.
