Auna, a healthcare provider in Spanish speaking Latin America (SSLA), has entered an exclusive five-year partnership with Mexico-based oncology clinic Opción Oncología.

The strategic partnership aims to enhance Auna’s position as an oncology provider in Mexico by consolidating oncology services within Auna Mexico.

Under the partnership agreement, eight physicians, including six oncologists and two radiation oncologists will be appointed as Auna’s team members.

The two radiation oncologists to join Auna include Dr César González de León and Dr Cuauhtémoc De la Peña Hinojosa.

Dr González will be appointed as chair of Auna’s medical oncology practice and co-chair of the centre of excellence in oncology, and Dr De la Peña Hinojosa as chair of radiation oncology on Auna Mexico’s Oncology Board.

Currently, the two doctors manage about 30% of private oncology treatments at Opción Oncología clinic in Monterrey, Mexico, referring patients to various facilities across the city.

Auna intends to integrate all the oncology treatments into its network, improving care coordination and patient experience.

Dr González de León and Dr De la Peña Hinojosa said: “We are thrilled as a team to join Auna’s mission to elevate oncology care in Mexico.

“This collaboration allows us to enhance patient care, drive research, and set new standards in oncology treatment by partnering with the best in the industry.”

The medical team from Opción Oncología will relocate to Doctors Hospital, further strengthening Auna’s oncology capabilities.

The move will establish Auna’s Oncology Center as a multidisciplinary and integrated oncology centre in Mexico’s private healthcare sector.

Auna said the partnership is part of its ongoing expansion to provide advanced oncology care, and follows the successful launch of OncoMexico last year.

Also, the move aligns with its upcoming launch of Oncology Research Center in Mexico.

The new facility is expected to collaborate with Auna’s research centres in Peru and Colombia, advancing cancer treatment across the region.

Auna executive chairman and president Suso Zamora said: “This agreement is an important step for Auna in Mexico to continue implementing the AunaWay.

“By bringing together some of the country’s most respected oncology experts and consolidating our oncology services, we are reinforcing our mission to provide the highest quality cancer care.

“With this partnership, Auna is poised to become the leading oncology provider in Monterrey.”
