Viz.ai, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered disease detection and care coordination company, has teamed up with Microsoft to advance AI-powered clinical workflows and improve patient care.

Under the partnership, Viz.ai’s AI models and care coordination tools will be combined with Microsoft’s Precision Imaging Network, part of Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare, to offer a comprehensive solution.

The solution includes over 48 AI models, embedded into clinical workflows. Together, they provide actionable insights to enhance patient outcomes.

Viz.ai CEO and co-founder Chris Mansi said: “Viz.ai and Microsoft share a steadfast commitment to improving patient outcomes through innovation and responsible AI.

“Microsoft helps extend the impact that Viz.ai can have across dozens more diseases, enabling efficient and transformative collaborative care at scale across our combined, vast healthcare provider footprint.

“This helps ensure that more patients get the right care at the right time. The combined platform empowers health systems to address the most critical and diverse healthcare needs, far surpassing the capabilities of any other solution in the market today.”

The Precision Imaging Network offers a broad suite of AI models, delivering real-time clinical intelligence across various specialities, including oncology, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, orthopaedic, spine, emergency, and neurosciences.

Viz.ai contributes 13 AI care coordination algorithms, providing comprehensive support for patients with acute and non-acute conditions such as stroke, haemorrhage, pulmonary embolism, and aortic dissection.

According to Viz.ai, the solutions assist radiologists in creating more accurate reports efficiently. This enhances communication with treating physicians and fosters better collaboration among care teams for timely follow-up and treatment.

Microsoft Health and Life Sciences corporate vice president and chief strategy officer Peter Durlach said: “Health systems will now have one platform that provides a comprehensive set of proven imaging AI capabilities across a spectrum of clinical specialities.

“The combined set of AI models and Viz.ai’s intelligent care coordination capabilities enable health systems to streamline the radiologist workflow and assist them in detecting a wide range of critical findings while simultaneously helping them shorten time to treatment, manage patient follow-up, and improve patient care.”

Leveraging PowerScribe, Microsoft’s radiology reporting solution, and PowerShare, an image-sharing network, Precision Imaging Network enhances clinician efficiency.

Powered by Microsoft Azure, it offers a selection of third-party imaging AI models deeply integrated into the radiologist workflow.

Last month, the disease detection and care coordination company introduced a new software to accelerate diagnosis and care for lung disease patients.
