Vera Whole Health has opened its first advanced primary care centre in Richmond, Virginia, addressing a primary care physician shortage identified in the state.
In partnership with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Virginia, Vera aims to enhance access to quality primary care for Anthem members enrolled in commercial plans.
The healthcare approach focuses on holistic treatment, emphasising the relationship between members and their primary care physicians.
Vera’s primary care solution offers a personalised experience for members with more time with their care team, same- and next-day appointments, and in-person and virtual options.
Proactive health alerts and care recommendations are also part of the service.
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia president Monica Schmude said: “Our members cite challenges in obtaining an appointment for primary care in a reasonable amount of time and, as their healthcare partner, we are stepping in to help solve the problem.
“We want our members to have a primary care physician (PCP) relationship, and we do not support care being delayed due to access challenges.
“This collaboration is a step forward in our commitment to making proactive healthcare a priority for our members.”
Vera Whole Health combines navigation with high-quality primary care, using a technology platform to deliver personalised outreach.
The approach engages members most in need, supported by a dedicated care team, including primary care providers, behavioural health clinicians, health coaches, and care managers, to improve health outcomes.
Anthem members can access care at the Vera Whole Health Care Centre located at 3810 West Broad Street, Suite 104, Richmond.
