The University of Pittsburgh has partnered with AI healthcare technology company Vizzhy to launch GAINMED, an AI-driven platform focused on P5 Medicine.

P5 Medicine refers to an approach that involves predictive, preventive, personalised, precision, and participatory care.

The collaboration aims to transform health care by integrating AI and multiomics for enhanced patient outcomes.

The initiative includes establishing the Pitt-Vizzhy Longevity Labs, in collaboration with the US-based biotechnology company Illumina.

The Longevity Labs will provide multiomics laboratory services to expand precision medicine in the US and worldwide.

Vizzhy cofounder Vishnu Vardhan said: “The number one reason GAINMED chose Pittsburgh is Dr. Anantha Shekhar, whose bold vision for precision medicine, translational research and real-time clinical implementation sets Pittsburgh apart from any other city.

“His leadership has built an environment where data science, clinical care and human biology converge.”

The integration of multiomics, systems biology, and AI optimises individual wellness and prevents disease through early detection and intervention.

By combining biological and digital insights, clinicians can detect transitions from wellness to illness before symptoms manifest, allowing for precise interventions.

The launch of GAINMED in Pittsburgh signifies a pivotal shift from a traditional sick care model to a proactive health care system.

Corporate partners in this initiative include AWS, Illumina, L&T-Cloudfiniti, LTIMindtree, NVIDIA, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and others.

Following the announcement, over a dozen experts in technology, medicine, and systems biology participated in the Pitt Med + AI: Transforming Global Health Symposium.

University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine John and Gertrude Petersen Dean and health sciences senior vice chancellor Anantha Shekhar said: “This is more than just a scientific effort; it’s a public health mission.

“Pittsburgh has the infrastructure, the institutions and, most importantly, the people to lead the world in proactive, personalised, accessible and ethical health care.

“We want every citizen of Pennsylvania and beyond to benefit from the future we’re building here.”
