US-based telemedicine and virtual healthcare company Teladoc Health has acquired UpLift, which offers virtual mental health therapy, psychiatry, and medication management services, for $30m in cash.
The deal value includes up to $15m in additional contingent earnout consideration, reflecting UpLift’s 2024 revenue of around $15m.
The transaction aligns with Teladoc’s strategy to enhance its leadership in the virtual care sector and was finalised on 30 April 2025.
UpLift will continue to offer provider network management, quality and patient outcome oversight, and insurance administration, under the leadership of its CEO Kyle Talcott.
UpLift founder and CEO Kyle Talcott said: “We are proud of our ability to help health plans expand access for their members to high-quality, affordable mental healthcare with leading patient outcomes.
“We couldn’t be more excited and confident that our health plan partners, patients and providers will greatly benefit from the scale and expanded capabilities that this partnership brings to them.”
UpLift, which serves the health plan market, has agreements covering over 100 million lives and a network of over 1,500 mental health professionals.
The acquisition provides Teladoc with significant capabilities and a skilled team.
It strengthens Teladoc’s position in virtual mental health care, allowing consumers in its BetterHelp segment to access benefits coverage for mental health services.
BetterHelp, the largest consumer-oriented virtual therapy business, will use its experience to enable consumers to access insurance coverage benefits via UpLift.
Therapists affiliated with BetterHelp can join the benefits coverage network, subject to specific requirements and interests.
In addition, Teladoc’s Integrated Care segment offers digital tools, coaching, therapy, and psychiatry services, completing around one million mental health visits last year.
BetterHelp president Fernando Madeira said: “BetterHelp was founded to remove the traditional barriers to therapy and make mental health care more accessible to everyone.
“We believe joining forces with UpLift will help us advance that mission, especially for those seeking to use their coverage benefits, while also driving topline revenue growth that will help sustain and expand our impact over time.”
Earlier this year, Teladoc Health agreed to acquire Catapult Health, which offers virtual preventive care, virtual primary care and virtual checkup services, for $65m.
