Samsung Electronics has agreed to acquire Xealth, a healthcare integration platform, a significant step towards enhancing wellness and medical care.
The acquisition will combine Samsung’s wearable technology with Xealth’s digital health solutions and bridge the gap between fragmented health data.
It is expected to create a seamless connection between home health monitoring and clinical decision-making, empowering patients and providers alike.
The synergy between Samsung’s wearables and Xealth’s platform will address potential delays in care by integrating health data, enhancing the provider-patient relationship.
The acquisition will support Samsung’s vision of care at home, connecting various devices to personalise healthcare experiences and improve preventative care.
Samsung Electronics president and device experience (DX) division acting head TM Roh said: “Samsung aims to improve the health of everyone through our extensive platform combining Samsung’s innovative technologies and open collaboration with industry leaders.
“We believe the acquisition of Xealth, with its accumulated expertise and extensive healthcare network, will be an anchor to accelerate Samsung’s efforts to support health systems and digital health partners through a truly connected care.”
Xealth, originating from the Providence Health System, integrates multiple digital health solutions into one platform.
The platform offers healthcare providers a comprehensive view of patient data.
With a network of over 500 US hospitals and 70 digital health partners, Xealth will now leverage Samsung’s platform to enhance its connected care offerings.
The acquisition, pending customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, is expected to be finalised by 2025.
It is anticipated to expand Samsung’s health ecosystem, offering a seamless experience across wellness and medical care, delivering hyper-personalised preventative care.
Xealth CEO Mike McSherry said: “We are excited to join forces with Samsung. Xealth and Samsung share a common goal to advance the digital health space for truly connected care.
“Customer health data from wearables can fill in the context that is missing to hospitals and bring more data analysis possibilities that were not available just with clinical records.
“Together with Samsung and our network of healthcare leaders, we will design a bridge between home health monitoring and clinical decision-making, with provider workflow considerations and patient engagement at the core of that effort.”
