Dutch healthcare technology firm Philips is strengthening its partnership with Medtronic through a new multi-year agreement, to enhance patient monitoring solutions.

The initial collaboration, which began in 1992, is focused on delivering advanced and validated monitoring technologies that improve patient outcomes.

The expanded partnership aims to integrate next-generation technologies and consumables to streamline healthcare delivery.

It will integrate Medtronic’s renowned brands, such as BIS brain monitoring, Microstream capnography, and Nellcor pulse oximetry, into Philips’ patient monitoring systems.

Also, Philips will bundle essential supplies, including ECG, NIBP, and batteries, with the Medtronic systems.

Philips hospital patient monitoring clinical applications and devices general manager Sachin Chaudhari said: “Philips is passionate about equipping clinicians with the tools they need to provide better care to more patients.

“Through our partnership with Medtronic, we’re providing a comprehensive monitoring solution that is validated throughout all stages, giving clinicians access to the reliable, high-quality products they need to do their jobs.”

The initiative aims to simplify procurement and reduce the complexity of managing multiple contracts, initially targeting the North American market with plans for global expansion.

Both companies are committed to patient safety through a new pledge programme.

Philips will ensure that all technologies integrated via this partnership are clinically validated, cybersecure, and ready for clinical use.

It allows clinicians to focus on patient care without worrying about compatibility issues, as the monitoring tools meet rigorous quality standards.

The expanded partnership provides healthcare professionals with flexible technology solutions to address evolving needs.

Last year, Philips and Medtronic Neurovascular have formed a strategic advocacy partnership to help expedite access to life-saving treatments.

The collaboration aims to improve stroke care, which is vital for saving lives and minimising long-term disabilities.

Both firms will advocate for raising awareness of the health and economic benefits of timely access to stroke care for patients, families, and communities.
