Philips and Ingeborg Initiatives have partnered to address maternal health challenges in Arkansas by providing expectant parents with access to the Philips Avent Pregnancy+ app.

The collaboration aims to improve health literacy and promote healthy habits for expectant parents through customised content curated to state-specific resources.

Philips’ Pregnancy+ app, with over 80 million downloads, offers educational tools and expert-developed content to enhance awareness and encourage healthier lifestyles among families.

It features more than 800 articles, lifelike 3D baby models, a weekly pregnancy tracker, and audio-video courses by health experts.

The app also provides information on Arkansas-based social services, infant health topics, mental health resources, and early childhood programmes. It also provides additional support services during pregnancy and early parenthood.

According to a survey, people using the Pregnancy+ app reported higher maternal health literacy and were more likely to engage in early and regular prenatal care.

Philips North America personal health head Dana Medema said: “At Philips, we are deeply committed to advancing maternal health and access to care through education and innovative technology, and Pregnancy+ is just one way we are doing that.

“No one organisation is going to be able to address the maternal health crisis alone, but collaboratively, we can meet moms where they are and give them access to the care they need.”

Ingeborg Initiatives founder and CEO Olivia Walton said: “Maternal health in Arkansas is in crisis. Lawmakers are now focused on it, but it is going to take all stakeholders—public, private, philanthropic—to get women the care they need before, during and after birth.

“We want to meet moms where they are—on their phones—providing them with the necessary resources at their fingertips.

“This is a positive step towards helping ensure healthier pregnancies through access to critical information and services that will help build healthy families.”

Recently, Philips has selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its preferred cloud provider to support its cloud-first strategy to expand its healthcare informatics solutions worldwide.
