Royal Philips has announced a collaboration with Epic to enhance cardiac monitoring by integrating Philips’ ambulatory monitoring and diagnostics services with Epic’s Aura suite.

The integration aims to provide the most comprehensive cardiac care portfolio available through Aura, improving interoperability and patient outcomes.

With Philips’ technology accessible via Aura, health system IT teams can significantly reduce connection times with Philips.

The integration allows healthcare providers to order and review patients’ ECG results directly within Epic, eliminating manual data entry and enhancing workflow efficiency.

The collaboration streamlines data-driven care decisions, benefiting both providers and patients.

In addition, the partnership will automate administrative tasks such as patient activation, staff notifications, and charting.

The automation provides cardiology teams with more time to focus on patient care, reducing the burden of administrative duties.

Epic cardiology and imaging diagnostics vice president Leah Johnson said: “When a physician prescribes a cardiac monitor, it allows patients to be evaluated for heart conditions as they go about their daily lives, even before they see a cardiologist.

“Through this collaboration, we’re streamlining the clinical experience for both patients and physicians, reducing administrative overhead and ensuring that detailed diagnostic reports are readily available in the patient’s comprehensive health record.”

Philips’ ambulatory monitoring portfolio offers flexible remote monitoring and enterprise ECG management solutions.

The tools provide healthcare organisations with data and insights to transform workflows, enabling proactive diagnosis and management of patient populations.

Philips’ services aim to deliver care in the right setting and at the right time, advancing cardiac care standards.

Philips ambulatory monitoring and diagnostics business leader Stefano Folli said: “With this collaboration, we are advancing cardiac care in a way that simultaneously improves the clinician and patient experience.

“Together, Philips and Epic can help enable workflow efficiencies that lighten cardiac care teams’ load, so they can spend more time focusing on what matters most – providing direct patient care.”
