US-based health information technology firm Oracle Health has launched new features in its health system operations suite, allowing hospitals to make quick and effective decisions during crises.
The new capabilities, including Oracle Health Patient Flow and Oracle Health Command Centre Dashboard, are designed to optimise emergency management.
They enable health systems to manage resources and adapt strategies in real-time, improving responses to rapidly changing, disruptive events.
With enhanced functions of mass transfers, bed management, and evacuation planning, healthcare organisations can simplify patient journeys and resource coordination.
Oracle developed the new features, which will be offered to existing customers at no cost, in collaboration with MedStar Health and BayCare Health.
Oracle Health and Life Sciences executive vice president and general manager Seema Verma said: “In moments where every second counts, technology must be an enabler, not inhibitor to swift and effective response, and this is exactly what we are delivering with these new health system operations capabilities.
“These solutions deliver the agility and insight needed to manage and rapidly respond to evolving and potentially chaotic situations.”
Previously, mass patient transfers relied on manual processes, creating inefficiencies.
The new features allow bed management teams to perform batch actions, enhancing situational awareness and enabling effective management of large patient numbers.
Oracle Health Patient Flow allows hospitals to dynamically manage bed visibility, creating and removing disaster beds as needed.
Care teams can prioritise patient movements and track bed assignments at receiving facilities, while nursing staff can prioritise beds for new admissions.
The new capabilities reduce administrative burdens, allowing staff to focus on critical patients during emergencies, said Oracle.
