LifeSource, a US-based Organ Procurement Organisation (OPO), has partnered with InVita Healthcare Technologies to launch the iTransplant Donor Management software platform.

The collaboration aims to optimise LifeSource’s life-saving operations, including donor management, organ and tissue procurement, and family aftercare.

The iTransplant platform is customised for LifeSource, incorporates interoperability solutions.

The solutions include iReferral to automate the donor referral process and incorporate laboratory testing and telepathology interfaces.

The solution is designed to streamline operations from referral intake at LifeSource’s 24/7 Donor Services Centre to the final stages of organ and tissue procurement.

LifeSource Chief Operations Officer Steph Davis said: “LifeSource is relentlessly pursuing a day where no one dies waiting for a lifesaving transplant.

“Having the best software and technology, like the iTransplant Donor Management software platform, is essential to helping us achieve that goal.”

LifeSource serves the second-largest geographical donor service area in the US, covering Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and parts of western Wisconsin.

The company aims to save lives through organ, eye, and tissue donation, serving around seven million people, and promoting a culture of donation within the community.

iTransplant is its lead software platform, which is facilitating the recovery and transplant of around 80% of deceased organ donations in the US.

The solution is used by over 20,000 medical professionals across more than 100 donation and transplantation agencies worldwide, including in the US, Canada, Ireland, and Australia.

InVita Healthcare Technologies provides specialised software solutions for Human Biologics and Health & Public Safety, supporting public health and medical professionals.

Its offering helps hospitals, health systems, blood and plasma centres, OPOs, forensic laboratories, public health organisations, and government agencies in fulfilling their missions.

InVita human biologics president Wade Liu said: “We are so proud to partner with the great team at LifeSource and provide purposeful solutions to support their mission-critical work.

“We’re looking forward to much continued active collaboration together in our joint mission of saving and healing lives through the miracle of donation and transplantation.”
