UK-based healthcare company Healthy.io has announced the acquisition of Labrador Health, a startup known for its innovative technology in quantitative home testing.
The strategic acquisition advances Healthy.io’s strategy to transform home-based diagnostics with lab-quality precision, facilitated by smartphones.
It will integrate Labrador Health’s technology with Healthy.io to launch the next generation of quantitative at-home kidney testing, enhancing global access to high-quality diagnostics.
The two companies are collaborating on the development of the first-ever quantitative, home-based ACR test, scheduled for release in 2026.
The home-based ACR test is designed to address the gap in chronic kidney disease (CKD).
As part of the acquisition, all Labrador Health team members will join Healthy.io, which is also realigning its internal resources to advance in core markets.
The move will support the growth of Healthy.io’s existing semi-quantitative products, along with the development of next-generation diagnostics using the newly acquired technology.
Healthy.io’s at-home semi-quantitative tests have improved access and early detection, and Labrador’s technology will provide greater clinical insight, enhancing disease management.
By combining Labrador’s innovation with Healthy.io’s computer vision technologies and operational scale, the acquisition will redefine kidney health monitoring and management.
Healthy.io CEO Geoffrey Martin said: “This acquisition is about accelerating our mission to deliver clinical-grade testing from the comfort of home. We’re excited to welcome the Labrador team and to build on our shared commitment to improving kidney care.”
Labrador Health CEO Yoav Kessler said: “With just $5m in funding and a small team, we achieved significant technological milestones.
“We knew that partnering with Healthy.io would be the key to taking our innovation to the next level, combining our breakthrough with their scale and expertise to make a truly global impact.”
