Frontera Health has announced the launch of the company to advance health equity through AI-enabled autism care, and a $32m seed financing to scale its AI-powered clinical solutions.

The seed funding was jointly led by Lux Capital and Lightspeed Venture Partners, with other participants including Bison Ventures, Menlo Ventures, and Inspired Capital.

The company has rolled out its advanced, multi-modal digital phenotyping solution on a limited basis, to enhance access to autism treatment for children.

The AI-powered digital phenotyping technology is trained by experienced clinicians to analyse therapeutic sessions at a superior level of 30 frames per second.

It provides real-time cognitive reasoning and objective data points by tracking crucial interactions and behaviours while generating comprehensive and unbiased assessments.

Frontera said the digital phenotyping solution allows clinicians to provide more accurate, data-driven care while expanding early intervention services.

Frontera CEO and co-founder Amol Deshpande said: “As a parent of a son with autism, I saw firsthand how challenging the system is for clinicians. Faster diagnoses and accelerated care lead directly to better outcomes later in life.

“We’re proud to work with BCBAs to empower them to bring quality care to more communities, especially rural and underserved communities that have historically been overlooked.”

Frontera is also commercialising its diagnosis and assessment solutions with plans to open its first Innovation Centre, an applied behaviour analysis (ABA) clinic.

The company’s unique AI solutions enable diagnosticians and board-certified behaviour analysts (BCBAs) to address administrative hurdles that limit access to care.

The solutions enable clinicians to treat more children, reduce manual tasks and paperwork, and facilitate faster turnaround time for diagnoses and care.

Frontera said that its Diagnosis Builder clinicians deliver diagnostic reports in half the time, enabling BCBAs to complete personalised assessment reports within two to three hours.

Also, its AI-powered solutions analyse, infer, and reason with unstructured data in voice, text, and inputs from other formats, said the newly launched company.
