US-based health information technology firm Datavant has launched a digital platform, HealthForms, to enhance the experience for both patients and providers.
HealthForms is designed to simplify the completion of forms requiring provider signatures, such as Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and disability forms.
By reducing administrative burdens, the digital platform is said to allow clinical teams to concentrate more on patient care.
The new solution addresses the time-intensive process providers face when filling out FMLA, disability, and other forms, said the company.
Datavant general manager and provider division president Stephen Mallinak said: “Providers should not have to divert their clinical teams from patient care to handle tedious paperwork.
“HealthForms reduces that burden by radically simplifying this process. By delivering a digital-first, secure, and patient-friendly solution, we’re helping providers improve operational efficiency and patient satisfaction at the same time.”
According to Datavant, completing forms often involves navigating various documents and coordinating with third parties.
The tasks are said to divert several hours from direct patient care each week, and are frequently unreimbursed.
Datavant said that HealthForms offers a compliant and secure workflow for form completion.
Once a patient submits a digital request, Datavant manages form completion and ensures secure delivery to both the patient and provider.
The process eliminates the need for staff to handle data collection, payment, or follow-up, and is expected to cut turnaround times by about 50%.
The platform leverages the same in-house technology as Datavant’s patient request tool, which is claimed to have a 95% patient satisfaction rate.
HealthForms provides nationwide access to various patient-requested form types, including FMLA and disability requests, allowing anytime, anywhere access to forms.
Earlier this year, Datavant agreed to acquire Ontellus, a company providing health records retrieval and claims intelligence solutions. The acquisition aims to create a tech-enabled, digital-first platform that easily connects health records, optimising the process for healthcare providers.
