Veterinary practice improvement company Covetrus has announced artificial intelligence (AI)-powered workflow automation and treatment board features in Covetrus Pulse.

These capabilities are now part of the upgraded Covetrus Platform, enhancing veterinary practice efficiency.

Covetrus Platform combined with the VetSuite network will enable veterinarians to improve financial and clinical outcomes.

These advancements will transform the veterinary experience by streamlining operations, reducing administrative tasks, boosting client loyalty and improving business insights.

With improved business insights and productivity, veterinarians and staff can spend more time with patients and pet parents.

The newly enhanced AI capabilities in Covetrus Pulse offer several time-saving features at no additional cost.

Ambient Listening and Auto-Generated SOAP Notes allow AI-powered transcription to capture real-time conversations during appointments, automatically creating SOAP notes and saving valuable time per visit.

Pre-Appointment Summaries use data from the practice management system (PIMS) to generate concise patient summaries, helping veterinarians prepare more efficiently before appointments.

Additionally, Treatment Boards enhance care team collaboration by providing real-time updates on patient treatments, ensuring seamless communication across the practice.

Covetrus chief product and technology officer Scot Gillespie said: “Veterinarians are increasingly seeking ways to optimise their practice workflows while maintaining the highest level of care for their patients.

“By integrating AI-driven automation into the Covetrus Platform, we are empowering veterinary teams to enhance efficiency, generate greater insights to support patient care, and increase personalised communication to support pet parents.”

According to US-based Covetrus, the adoption of AI-powered tools within Covetrus Pulse is already delivering significant benefits. Veterinary professionals can save up to five minutes per appointment, giving practitioners at least an additional hour per day.

Improved staff efficiency comes from reducing administrative workloads, which helps alleviate burnout and boosts overall productivity.

AI features in Pulse streamline workflows with visit summaries, automatic SOAP notes via ambient listening, and AI-suggested next-best actions.

Additionally, AI-driven efficiencies are helping to increase pharmacy utilisation and enhance overall patient care engagement, contributing to revenue growth.

Covetrus plans to continue advancing AI technologies to further support veterinary practices.

Veterinarians will gain an end-to-end view of the client journey, access business insights through machine learning models, and provide more personalised communications.
