Cantata Health Solutions has introduced Arize MAT, a new Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) module within its Arize electronic health record (EHR) platform.

The EHR platform aims to enhance the care for individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD).

The module provides healthcare providers with integrated tools to streamline methadone and buprenorphine treatment, addressing societal biases and regulatory challenges.

Arize MAT is designed to improve the dispensing of methadone, providing increased visibility into treatment processes and supporting audits by several agencies.

The agencies include the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organisations (JCAHO).

The module’s flexible technology supports coordinated, person-centred workflows.

Cantata Health Solutions product management vice president Christy Winter said: “As the sector moves toward more integrated and personalised approaches to MAT, it’s more important than ever to have a single, connected platform.

“Working with one vendor who can offer complete solutions helps programs run more efficiently and deliver better care.”

Key features of Arize MAT include streamlined dispensing integrated within the EHR, automating schedules for clinic and take-home dispensing, toxicology screens, and managing dispensing holds.

Patient accessibility is enhanced through appointment reminders and secure patient portals, promoting engagement and adherence.

The module ensures compliance with 42 CFR Part 2, safeguarding sensitive substance use data with built-in consent management tools.

In addition, the module integrates Social Drivers of Health (SDOH) tracking and referral capabilities, facilitating connections to essential support services.

Cantata Health Solutions CEO Alan Tillinghast said: “Methadone dispensing should be fast, safe, and smoothly integrated with the rest of the client’s clinical information and healthcare experience.

“Most EHR providers either partner with another vendor in a non-integrated manner or bolt on products acquired from other vendors.

“Cantata has built a fully integrated dispensing and clinical solution that significantly enhances the quality of care while offering reduced dispensing time, lowering costs, and creating a better experience for everyone.”

Also, Arize MAT integrates with Zero Overdose, a programme focused on reducing overdose events by expanding access to safety planning and education.

The integration enhances providers’ ability to support individuals and communities at risk of overdose.

Zero Overdose co-founder Virna Little said: “Our partnership with Cantata Health Solutions reflects a shared commitment to advancing equitable, evidence-based care for people with opioid use disorder.

“By embedding overdose risk screening and safety planning tools into Arize, we’re ensuring that methadone and buprenorphine treatment are delivered within a broader framework of prevention, connection, and whole-person care.”
