Home-based care provider Byram Healthcare, part of Owens & Minor, has launched ByramConnect, a personalised digital health programme.
Powered by the Welldoc App, it uses artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to analyse member data across six health dimensions of health.
The programme helps people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes and related chronic conditions like hypertension, weight management, and cardiovascular risk.
ByramConnect provides actionable insights and reports for Byram members to share with their providers and care teams.
ByramConnect is US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared as a class II software as a medical device (SaMD) for healthcare providers and adult patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
In clinical studies, patients using the app experienced improvements in key health measures, including reduced A1C, lower blood pressure, and reduced body weight.
The ByramConnect platform offers diabetes customers access to the Welldoc App, which provides care teams with a comprehensive view of the patient’s condition.
The app combines health data from blood glucose meters, fitness trackers, continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), scales, blood pressure monitors, heart rate monitors, medical labs, and pharmacies.
ByramConnect powered by the Welldoc App offers several key benefits. It provides AI-driven, personalised digital coaching with real-time feedback based on a patient’s data and trends.
The app also supports diet and nutrition by offering tracking, insights, and meal planning guidance, along with restaurant recommendations tailored to dietary needs.
For GLP-1 medication users, it helps manage medications, monitor potential side effects, and track adherence over time.
Additionally, ByramConnect offers mental well-being support by guiding to manage mood, sleep, and anxiety, promoting overall mental health.
Owens & Minor Patient Direct executive vice president and CEO Perry Bernocchi said: “We’re proud to offer Byram members a clinically validated platform designed to help them achieve concrete goals, such as weight management and improved control over their diabetes, in addition to longer-lasting behaviour changes that help support a lifetime of better overall health.”
Welldoc empowers individuals with cardiometabolic conditions through AI-powered coaching for diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, weight management, and mental well-being.
Its FDA-cleared app supports self-management and enhances healthcare team connections, improving health outcomes.
Owens & Minor, a healthcare solutions company, acquired Byram Healthcare in 2017 for $380m in cash.
