Altera Digital Health has launched its integrated operating theatre system at Latrobe Regional Health (LRH), a member of the Gippsland Health Alliance (GHA).

The implementation includes the Provation iPro anaesthesia information management system (AIMS).

It aims to optimise theatre management and clinical documentation and provide a seamless patient experience from pre-admission to discharge.

The deployment of Sunrise Surgical Care at LRH marks the first implementation of the advanced surgical management solution in Australia.

Integrated with Sunrise EHR, the system enhances efficiency by enabling real-time tracking of theatre utilisation, optimised scheduling, and improved resource allocation.

The initiative aims to deliver high-quality, patient-centric care by reducing administrative burdens and ensuring timely access to critical surgical data.

Altera Digital Health APAC EVP Todd Haebich said: “The successful activation of Sunrise Surgical Care and Provation iPro at Latrobe Regional Health is a significant milestone for Altera, Provation and Gippsland Health Alliance.

“By equipping healthcare facilities with advanced tools, we empower clinicians to enhance patient care while optimising workflows. This deployment highlights our ongoing commitment to supporting digital innovation in healthcare.”

Sunrise Surgical Care supports a continuous, single patient record from perioperative care to discharge, improving communication between healthcare providers and patient safety.

The integration of Provation iPro AIMS spans 12 operating theatres and 18 Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) beds at LRH.

Designed by practising anaesthetists, Provation iPro streamlines electronic anaesthesia documentation, standardises quality measure collection, and streamlines billing processes.

Provation iPro’s autovitals feature wirelessly streams patient vitals from anaesthesia monitors directly into the clinical record.

Also, it enables providers to focus more on patient care while producing complete, compliant, and legible anaesthesia records, building on its picture documentation and pre-filled procedure templates.

The digital records can be accessed by multiple clinicians across various locations simultaneously, enhancing collaboration and ensuring real-time information availability.

LRH has introduced a Patient Procedure Tracker board in waiting areas, which provides real-time updates on the patient’s theatre journey, to keep families informed.

LRH chief operating officer Jon Millar said: “This deployment at LRH showcases our strong partnership with Altera. Leveraging this technology enhances patient experiences and ensures seamless care delivery across our facility.

“Performing more than 10,000 surgical procedures per year, LRH is utilising this system to enhance efficiency, streamline workflows and improve patient care.

“The ability to maintain a single clinical record from pre-admission to discharge is a game-changer for both staff and patients.”
