Smith & Nephew has announced that its Durafiber Ag dressing will soon be available in the US.
The Durafiber Ag line's addition of silver chloride makes the gelling fibre dressings appropriate for use on infected wound sites, allowing for a different approach to the management of bacterial contamination.
Robin Carlstein, interim president North America advanced wound management at Smith & Newphew said: "US clinicians will now have the effective exudate management and anti-shrinkage properties of the Durafiber dressings with the addition of a broad-spectrum antimicrobial."
