Focuses

Practical Patient Care (PPC) tracks the complete journey of a patient within a facility: from the emergency room into critical care, surgical care to clinical care at the bedside. PPC discusses the issues faced daily by healthcare professionals, which include the management and delivery of patient care, as well as the associated management of a fast-paced healthcare facility.
PPC's 3 main focus areas are:

Diagnostics

In vitro diagnostics tests make it possible to identify the micro-organism causing an infectious disease and to perform susceptibility testing to prescribe the most appropriate treatment. They also make it possible to detect non-infectious diseases. Between 60 % and 70% of medical decisions are based on in vitro diagnostic tests.

Wound Care

With the increase in life expectancy and the rise of disease states, such as diabetes, between 25% and 40% of beds in a typical hospital setting are occupied by patients with wounds and the management of wounds occupies up to half of all resources.

Infection Control

Hospital acquired infections (HAIs) are one the most dangerous and costly issues within the current healthcare market. In the US alone HAIs claim around 100,000 lives per year and cost $45 billion. To combat this hospitals' develop infection control strategies to 'clean-up' their facilities, saving lives, and in the process serious money. Infection control solutions are some of the most important investments that can be made by a hospital.'
